About SCSR - AMA Charter Club #4666
We are a group of pilots with very diverse backgrounds and demographics, who all share a love for flying sailplanes and swapping jokes on a beautiful outdoor hillside. We are students, architects, lawyers, machinists, businessmen, contractors, programmers, artists, etc... No one is excluded, and all are welcome.
SCSR is a regional club that operates under ASRO (American Slope Racing Organization), in conjunction with the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics). As of December 13th, 2005, SCSR is officially an AMA Charter Club, #4666.
The SCSR racing league is held at multiple locations throughout Southern California. Our "range" includes Whitaker to the north, Tehachapi to the east, San Diego to the south, and several coastal sites to the west. We occasionally compete with the Northern California Slope Soarers at Los Banos or Mammoth Mountain in Central California, but these are not considered "local" events for season points. Please visit our Slope Sites page for more info on locations.
SCSR maintains an active newsgroup that is email or web based (your preference) using YahooGroups. You can sign up for the group here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SoCalSlopeRacing/
SCSR Prime Directive
The primary purpose of the SCSR shall be to foster, encourage, promote, advertise, organize, and increase the participation and awareness of various forms of slope racing of radio controlled gliders in the state of California, particularly in Southern California.
