F3F Results - Vincent, 10/05/2005
What a day, what a Horse Race in very nice conditions all day. There was some thermal activity coming through on occasion but not the real big time swings we can see at Vincent. Very interesting watching a many of the top five or so as I could as the rounds went in.
Kyle and Alex N.were walking away through say round 3 where Alex N. bangs a new PB of 35.05 to take over first, Kyle second, I think Bill was third and me a distant 4th.
By round 5 Bill had taken over the lead, Kyle hot on his heels and Alex N. had faded a bit and I was still hanging on in 4th.
I think Warren was hanging just a bit back and flew consistant all day.
Wind started off at 30ish, Bill checked around round 5 or 6 and holding 29-31, still not any really big swings in times we are used to at Vincent, 36 followed by a 60 or worse. But there was a bit of tasty air being handed out from time to time.
By round 6 the wind backed off and looked like it was just going to go away, Bill had it at 24 mph but holding, it stayed that way until the last round with 4 pilots to go and turned back on. By the time I up, the top was 35 +
Round 7,8 & 9 was fun to watch as the scores went in. Bill started to fade, Alex bumped up a bit, Kyle took over the lead and I was nipping away at them all. I was surprised as a few times I kicked in the one throwout and not much changed by position but the points were moving around. I think it was now Kyle, Alex, Dan then Bill. I didn't think I could catch Kyle, but round 8 helped picking up 3 seconds on him and now in second. At the end of eight at the comp, Kyle had run a mental add em up on total time, he had me by 2 seconds... in round 9 I caught some nice air to go 39 and 2-1/2 seconds on Kyle. Much closer on points without the toss.
Alex Neigher not only did he whomp us all round 3, I think this may be his highest finish in this big of a group, well done. He also got a new PB as well.
I know Mr Cheese Bob Mietzner got a new PB as well. Joe Zepeda ALMOST squeeked is his first sub 40 with a 40.50 with an Opus.
Who else, oh, I think Doug Cook did as well, last seen he was still shaking from his 36.46 in round 3.
And here are the results, I will post the sheet in socalsloperacing@yahoogroups.com , file section, 2005 in just a few. Sorry for the delay. Congrats to the Fossil who nearly died climbing back up and trying to rush it. It wasn't much of a rush either :-)
Flash News: Fast Fossil holds off Timmig, but I don't think Dave Bates will be able to do the same for season points, we will see when I update that later. I have no planes on the sign up sheet, sorry. I will try to fill in as many as I can before uploading.
Regards,
Dan Field
