Man on Man Results - Whitaker, 08/27/2005
The event went off at Whitaker with 6 pilots and 3 wonderful guys who ran the lights all afternoon for us. We each had 6 flights before button fatigue set in at the lights , the wind began to taper and it was time to wrap it up.
Jason suffered a radio failure at landing and did not complete the event, but only minor damage. In the 3-way flyoff for second--Ted, Scott and me-Scott kept going lower looking for more speed, and then did a dive for the finish. Unfortunately, he had only done 7 laps and found himself scratching for lift to turn and complete the race. Deep in the canyon late in the day proved not to be the best plan and after mighty effort and lots of free advice, he landed well down in the canyon below the turn lights. Retrieval is scheduled for early tomorrow before the sun and heat arrive.
Note: Not one single midair, not even shadows on the plane.
